Nanrantsouak Three-Sisters Planting Field on Sandy River in Maine

Mother Corn Project: Women-led recovery of traditional indigenous Three Sisters mound gardening on ancient Abenaki planting fields at Jay Robinson’s Sweet Land Farm along the Sandy River intervale in Starks, Maine. This is the first time in more than 250 years indigenous people have been invited back into this part of the beloved homelands. The images below show participants rebuilding mounds in the same fields where colonists in the 1770s found indigenous Three Sisters gardens.
